Humble beginnings
Living Word Centre Blacktown was inaugurated in January 2005 with about 17 founding members from about 7 families in a school hall at Blacktown North Public School situated at 1 Bessemer Street Blacktown. We met in a small school hall until the spring of 2006. We saw a good level of growth in numbers including an increased number of children.

Relocation to Second Avenue
The inconveniences, especially of the numerical growth, inspired a step of faith to move to 3/23 Second Avenue, Blacktown NSW 2148. We continued to grow through several evangelistic initiatives and served our community through programs like Friendship Lunch, Computer Training, Free English Classes, etc. We also changed our name to Living Word Church International (LWCI) as we had started thinking international and started carrying out several international missions. We began saving a deposit to purchase our own building.

The Launch of Life Youth
We launched a youth ministry named Life Youth. Life Youth started meeting every Friday night at 7pm for prayer, fellowship, Bible studies and games. The youth also started running an exciting annual conference called IDENTITY Conference during the September school holidays in Australia. The conference brought a lot of youth together for games, entertainment and to hear the gospel.

A move to our first building at Prospect
We purchased our first building, 5/2 Stoddart Road, Prospect NSW 2148. It was an exciting time, working together and putting the place in order for use. We continued offering Free English Classes for immigrants and started a Food Relief program with Foodbank Australia. We organised a fun community day event called Life Festival. The Life Youth started annual Identity Camp/Retreat. We also began Saturday morning service called Miracle Hour with Pastor Chris - a time for worship, the word, prayer, healing and deliverance. We saw many healed, delivered and blessed.

Relocation to Seven Hills
The building at Prospect became too small again because of the increased community services and the number of children in our church. We needed rooms to accommodate different children classes by age. We started to raise fund for a larger building and through the generosity of church members, we purchased Unit 7, 30 Foundry Road, Seven Hills NSW 2147 and later sold our property in Prospect. We moved into our property in Seven Hills while we put the place in order. On Saturday, 24th November 2018, we officially opened and dedicated Unit 7, 30 Foundry Road for the use of both LWCI and Zoe Community Services, which is the community arm of the church.

The Challenge of COVID-19 Pandemic
In 2020, COVID-19 lockdowns and protocols changed the way we do church. The church quickly adopted new ways of meeting members' social, emotional and spiritual needs. We started streaming services to YouTube and Facebook for our members with messages for the season. We used Telephone conference calls for our prayer meetings and Zoom for board or leaders' meetings and remote guest speakers. We also begun Prayer Time with Pastor Chris, an hour of teaching and prayer. Thankfully, none of our members was severely impacted by the pandemic. The Lord kept all of us. Zoe Community Services also continued to support the community through our Food Relief program and other essential supplies during the pandemic season.

Installation of a New Senior Pastor
In March 2023, during our 18th Anniversary, Ps Chris and Lady Ps Vida Bonsu, who are LWCI's first Senior Pastors, stepped down and installed Ps Eric and Lady Ps Barbara Keteku as the new Senior Pastors of LWCI. This was a historic and transitional season for LWCI and it was carried out in the most moving and beautiful way. Ps Chris and Lady Ps Vida Bonsu are forever honoured as ours Founding Pastors, who continue to serve the church with their gifts and wise counsel from their vast knowledge, wisdom and years of experience.
